A very warm welcome to
Newbridge Preparatory School
We are a remarkable school dedicated to the education
and development of pupils aged two to eleven.
Welcome from the Headmistress
It is a privilege to be Headmistress of Newbridge Preparatory School, a school characterised by warmth, ambition and a genuine sense of family.
I have worked in education for over 25 years, beginning my career in London state primary schools before moving into the independent preparatory sector. Since then, I have been fortunate to work in senior leadership for many years, including as a Director of Studies and for ten years as a Deputy Head, before becoming Headmistress of Newbridge in September 2024. Alongside my role at Newbridge, I am also an ISI inspector, which gives me the opportunity to see practice across the independent sector and continually reflect on what an excellent education should offer children.
Throughout my career, my philosophy has remained remarkably simple: children achieve their best when they are happy, challenged, encouraged and truly known. I also believe passionately that children only have one childhood, and it is our responsibility to make it the very best it can be – filled with opportunity, discovery, friendship, fun and a genuine love of learning.
It was this that first drew me to Newbridge. I loved its size, its warmth and the fact that every child really is known as an individual. As Headmistress, I remain very much part of the everyday life of the school – greeting children in the morning, teaching, leading assemblies and celebrating the many small moments, as well as the big achievements, that make school life so special.
Our small classes enable us to understand each child’s strengths, interests, personality and potential. We combine high academic expectations with exceptional pastoral care and a wonderfully broad education, giving children the confidence to challenge themselves, discover their talents and embrace the many opportunities available to them.
Academic success matters, but childhood matters too. I strongly believe that education should never simply be about results. We want our children to be curious, resilient and kind; to form strong friendships, develop confidence and independence, and leave us with a genuine love of learning. From their earliest days in Tots through to the confident young people who leave us at the end of Year 6, we encourage every child to dare to dream it and work to achieve it.
The Good Schools Guide described Newbridge as “small but mighty”, and I cannot think of a better way to capture us. There is an energy and warmth here that is difficult to convey on a website – you really do need to experience it for yourself.
I warmly invite you to visit Newbridge for a personalised tour, meet our children and staff, and discover what a Newbridge education could offer your child.
I very much look forward to welcoming you and your family.
